The role
The Communications Assistant will support the day-to-day running of the communications department (press, marketing, digital) while gaining hands-on experience in one of the world’s leading commercial galleries.
The role requires a passion for working in communications (press, marketing, digital) in the arts, and the ability to work with and pick up a variety of different digital tools, and a strong interest in learning about artists and the art sector. Being thorough, proactive and professional at all times, while having a strong eye for detail and consistency is key, as is the ability to balance a varied workload.
While knowledge and an understanding of contemporary art and communications are important for you to be considered for this role, prior experience working in a museum or gallery is not required. Hands-on training will be provided, from how to develop and follow a communications strategy and how to pitch to journalists, to how to create a strong CV.

Key Responsibilities
Tasks include:
1. Scanning and filing press clippings
2. Writing and compiling daily press coverage reports
3. Responding to press requests
4. Supporting the press team at media events and openings
5. Creating press kits, including designing image sheets, resizing images, uploading digital resources for journalists
6. Social media monitoring/engagement and research on the latest trends
7. Drafting social media copy and supporting the social media team with posting and scheduling content as necessary
8. Building email content on Mailchimp
9. Creating digital assets using existing design templates
10. Proofing and sense-checking copy
11. Other jobs to support the communications team when required
The ideal candidate is / has
1. Passionate about pursuing a career in communications in the art sector
2. Familiar with White Cube exhibitions and artists
3. Excellent written and verbal communications skills
4. Enjoys collaborating with colleagues, learning new skills and sharing ideas
5. Strong eye for detail
6. Well organised and professional
7. Engaged with contemporary art across a range of platforms, from reviews and features to video and social media
8. Social media, copywriting or design skills, either in a personal or professional capacity
