Production Engineer
Overall Objectives:
Understanding customer needs and requirements to ensure that product delivered meets with the customer requirements as well as the company's Strategic Vision and Quality Objectives that underpins the ISO9001:2015 quality accreditation.
Scope/ Quality Management:
1. Perform test, fault finding and inspection, including final inspection necessary to achieve the quality of manufacture required by the customers, drawings, and specifications (normally to Class 2 of IPC-610 or IPC-620).
2. Record and report non-conformances and rework data to the OME or Quality Manager. The Production Engineer will also be responsible for the production of drawings to satisfy customer requirements or as required for quotation purposes.
Workload Planning and Efficiency:
1. Monitor levels of workload and report to the OME in advance of any possibilities that current tasks may require additional resources to be provided.
Technical Assistance:
1. Provide technical assistance to resolve documentation and manufacturing issues within the Electronics Workshop and also provide Electronics training to staff regarding Electronics test and measurement principles and the use of workshop equipment.
Continuous Improvement:
1. Endeavour to meet any targets agreed by the company throughout the management review process as well as individual targets agreed and set through the appraisal process. Any suggestions for the improvement of processes should be passed onto the OME.
2. Participate in the company's Continuous Sustainable Improvement Programme at pre-determined intervals.
Workplace Safety:
1. Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines and provide guidance to Workshop staff. Be mindful of risk at all times and immediately report safety risks to the OME so that preventative action can be undertaken.
Environmental / Best Practice:
1. Actively seek to ensure ethical and best practice in the day to day activities of the department. This should include minimising waste and taking reasonable measures to protect the environment, whether that be maximising recyclable material, reduction in waste or mitigation against pollution.
Plant Maintenance / Housekeeping:
1. Regularly review the operation of the Electronics Workshop to monitor general housekeeping and equipment operability. This process shall identify planned and preventative maintenance and include monitoring test equipment calibration status. Carry out the weekly 7S department inspection and ensure that work areas, desk, and work bench are tidied on a daily basis.
Customer Satisfaction:
1. Make every endeavour to satisfy the reasonable requirements of the Customer. This shall include confirming that product and documentation supplied to the customer meets their requirements. Approach the customer and other staff in a professional manner and use best endeavours to promote and enhance goodwill between the Customer and the Company.
Quote Preparation and Sales Support:
1. Provide or assist the OME with the preparation of costed quotations, including costed BoM's and the identification of suitable alternative components for obsolete or long lead parts. May also be required to provide technical sales support via telephone, email or at meetings either on site, at customer facilities or exhibitions.

Experience:
1. At least 3 years quality management experience in an Electronics manufacturing environment.
2. Experienced inspector to IPC-620 and IPC-610 Class standards. (Training provided)
3. Experience of carrying out Functional and Final testing of Electronic Assemblies.
4. Practical, hands-on, problem-solving experience.
5. Qualified to carry out IPC-620 and IPC-610, Class 2 inspection requirements.
6. Experience of Functional and Final testing of Electro-mechanical assemblies and PCBs, using standard test equipment - Power Supplies, Multimeters and Oscilloscopes.
7. Ability to interpret Assembly drawings, Items Lists, Circuit Diagrams and Wiring Schedules.
8. Competent user of Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel, and able to produce costed Bills of Materials and documents, such as Work Instructions.
Due to the size of the Company, all employees need to maintain a flexible approach, so you will, from time to time, be required to undertake other tasks beyond the scope of this principal role.
