Introduction
Our client works with the MOD and is looking for a Network Architect to design LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, SD network, telephony, etc. solutions.
They will need to perform High- and Low-level designs, ensure governance and assurance, and make sure networks comply with JSP604.
You will need to have experience in a similar role within Defence to be considered.
This is a hybrid role with 2 days on site per week.
Key Responsibilities
* Support, design, and implement infrastructure technologies and solutions using knowledge and experience of technologies: LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, data-centre LAN, SD networks, telephony, mobile solutions infrastructure, unified comms, network management solutions, network-specific security, and remote access technologies and approaches.
* Provide advice and guidance to Fixed Networks Product Owners on MSP service transition and implementation of new services.
* Review and assure MSP and third-party supplier Design Documentation, including HLD and LLD, Requests for Change, and Impact Assessments.
* Collaborate with engineers to ensure systems are practically designed and agree SLAs.
* Assure transition, ensuring all MSP services/systems successfully onboard and comply with standards and processes including JSP604.
* Ensure networks meet published Go Live dates.
* Engage with Asset Manager to ensure all obsolescence plans and programmes are technically coherent.
* Research new technologies and solutions, and ensure appropriate levels of assurance.
* Act as a point of escalation and cascade messages, standards, and best practices from other architecture teams and design authorities to the network architecture team.
* Undertake Stakeholder management as appropriate and communicate network concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Skills & Experience
* Experience as a Network Architect within a Defence environment.
* A strong understanding of governance and assurance.
* Design experience of computing, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, COTS, and open source packages and solutions.
* Experience designing systems to meet defined business needs.
* Understand how network services integrate with existing or new services, including cloud services and infrastructure.
