About the job:
Design of sheet metal enclosures including other component parts such as fascia (Decals), product marking labels, bespoke plastic mouldings and sub-assembly parts, ensuring cost effectiveness, safety and reliability as appropriate.
Create and maintain product assembly models using 3D CAD and generate production assembly drawings & build instructions. Liaise with production and suppliers on best methods for manufacture and assembly.
Prepare and maintain manufacturing drawings, production assembly documentation and BOMs.
Take ownership of the process of documentation control & release and coordinate with QA & Production departments on product improvement and modifications. Manage the drawing files, revision status and change records in accordance with the company’s ISO9001 & ISO14001 procedures.
Stay abreast of the latest design and manufacturing techniques and put forward improvements relevant to the Advanced business/ product line. Ensure that the company’s records and day to day activities are in full compliance with the quality manual and meet the requirements of audit as they arise.

Experience:
* 2-5 years’ experience in a similar role working in a design for manufacture environment.
* Experience of working with 3D CAD design and analysis software.
* Hands-on experience of ERP systems (creation of BOMs, parts etc.) and MS office tools.
* Experience of designing Decals and labelling artwork.
* A high level of technical knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to practical problems.
* An understanding and working knowledge of the implications of issues such as cost, safety and time constraints in design and manufacture.
* Relevant manufacturing processes such as sheet-metal forming (CNC Punch, Laser, Bending etc).
Desirable Skills (but can be trained):
* Relevant manufacturing processes (Screen-printed decals, Cable looms, Injection mould design and tooling etc.).
* Experience of designing Decals and labelling artwork.
* Experience using SolidWorks 3D CAD tools, DraftSight, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw and Epicor.
Qualifications / Education:
* Mechanical Design Engineering Degree / HND or equivalent experience.
