Job Title: Enabling & Home Support Service Lead
Hours: 25 hours per week
Salary: £15.35 per hour. £28950.21 pro rata per annum.
Contract Type: Fixed term (1yr)
Responsible to: Service Development Manager
Responsible for: Assessment & Admin Officers; proportion of dispersed community team of Enabling Staff
Location: Age UK Exeter’s Centre and offices – The Sycamores, Mount Pleasant Road, Exeter, EX4 7AE
Job Purpose: In conjunction with the Service Development Manager, lead a team to develop an effective and efficient Enabling service that responds to the needs of older people in Exeter. To provide supervision, support and direction to the Enabling team.
Main Duties:
1. Supervise and support the work of the Assessment & Admin Officers, working with them to ensure the smooth running of the service.
2. Work with the Manager on developing and monitoring the annual development plan for the service, identifying opportunities for growth and agreeing targets and priorities with the CEO, working to agreed Key Performance Indicators and taking responsibility for tasks as delegated.
3. Ensure that quality checks that safeguard the service and clients are undertaken by the Assessment & Admin Officer, and any improvements required are made swiftly.
4. Promote and market the Enabling Service to health professionals and other agencies, and to private individuals and families.
5. Monitor referrals and workflow in order to manage capacity within the team: undertaking recruitment as necessary.
6. Identify, organise and lead on thorough induction of new Enabling staff and on-going training, in particular for community-based Home Support workers.
7. Lead on ‘troubleshooting’ client and staffing issues in the team, delegating, coaching and supporting as necessary.
8. Manage own caseload of visits and reviews for clients with any concerns.
9. Keep the Manager abreast of concerns about client care or wellbeing, and work with her to report and manage any safeguarding issues in accordance with our policy and DCC procedures.
10. To respond to client concerns or complaints and advocate for excellent client care, liaising with rest of team, SMT, CEO and external colleagues and agencies as appropriate.
11. Work with the Assessment & Admin Officers to ensure that annual client updates are implemented, and changes at individual or service level are recorded and acted on.
12. Work with the Assessment & Admin Officers to ensure that all staff receive one to one support and supervision in line with AUKE’s policy: including direct supervision of the 2 Assessment & Admin Officers and a proportion of Home Support workers. Ensure regular, effective staff meetings take place bi-annually.
13. Authorise leave for the Enabling team including Home Support Workers ensuring sufficient cover is in place for the service to operate smoothly.
14. Work with the Finance Manager to ensure any pay or annual leave queries are dealt with appropriately and assist in managing any outstanding debts by clients.
15. Ensure that monthly stats, board reports, PIR and case study information is prepared and returned as requested.
16. Ensure that risk assessments for Enabling are kept up to date and reviewed appropriately, identifying any changes/ concerns to the Manager.
17. Follow Age UK Exeter’s policies and procedures, and promote to others in team.
18. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post.
This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Travel: A full driving license and access to a vehicle is essential. A mileage allowance is payable for essential travel during working hours.
Time Off in Lieu: Some work outside of the post’s normal hours may be required, for which Time Off in Lieu can be claimed.
Probationary Period: 6 months
Annual Leave: Equivalent of 6 weeks per year including Bank Holidays
