We are looking for a Head of Corporate Governance to lead the strategic development of our organisation’s approach to corporate governance and to support the Chief Executive, Board Chair and Executive team in all aspects of corporate governance. The role includes responsibility for:
1. Strategic development, implementation and monitoring of the organisation’s system of corporate governance in line with the Blueprint for Good Governance.
2. Business support and corporate administration for the Chief Executive, Chair and executive team.
3. Key corporate functions including enterprise risk management, whistleblowing procedures, corporate records management and management of our confidential contacts service.
This will be an influential role working with senior leaders across the organisation to ensure we have effective and robust management of all our corporate governance activities. The role will require an individual with strong problem-solving skills, a keen eye for detail along with strategic abilities to envisage and deliver improvements in how we undertake board corporate governance and associated activities.
Whilst experience in directly managing corporate governance affairs will be an advantage we are keen to hear from individuals with well developed experience of working at a senior level within a large organisation using their skills in improvement, strategic planning and strategic leadership to bring about improvements in corporate performance and governance.
You will be an experienced leader able to operate at board level providing strategic and operational advice and guidance to the executive team and the board. You should be educated to masters level or equivalent with professional knowledge and experience working within a corporate governance framework as outlined above. Experience in corporate governance and business administration would be advantageous alternatively we are looking for senior strategic leadership with demonstrable knowledge and experience of corporate governance in practice. You should be able to lead a team to deliver across a wide range of business administration and support and able to prioritise resources effectively to deliver both strategically and operationally. Experience with the public sector and the NHS is desirable but not essential.
Base will be negotiable within NHS Highland which includes the areas covered by Highland Council and Argyll and Bute Councils.
Hybrid working is a routine part of working within the NHS where this is appropriate to the role. This role would include options for hybrid working but there would be an expectation of regularly being available for onsite working at the main corporate base, Assynt House, in Inverness.
