We have an exciting opportunity for a caring and dynamic Imaging Assistant to join our Imaging Team. You will be a key member of our multi-disciplinary team and will support the Lead Imaging Nurse in delivering excellent patient care across all modalities including Ultrasound, Mammography and Cross-Sectional Imaging.
This role is ideally suited to a Support Worker who has a caring and compassionate attitude, with a proven ability to work as part of a team and would like to progress their career in a fast paced multi-modality imaging department.
This is a bank role and is therefore a zero hour contract working flexibly to cover absence and fluctuating hospital volumes.
Main duties of the job
As an Imaging Assistant you will:
1. Providing both administrative and clinical support within the Imaging Department.
2. Assist and provide support within Ultrasound, ensuring preparation and after care of patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional procedures
3. Assist the Radiologist with Ultrasound guided Fine Needle Aspirations (FNA’s). Ensuring that the equipment is set up correctly, collecting the sample in accordance to local policy and appropriate management of the sample to pathology for testing.
4. Assist the Breast Radiologist in undertaking biopsy & aspiration procedures. Ensuring that the equipment is set up correctly, collecting the biopsy sample in accordance to local policy and appropriate management of the sample to pathology for testing.
5. Promote independence and encourage the patient to undertake all tasks within their capabilities, with their assistance

11. Have NVQ level 2 in health and social care or equivalent
12. Have a basic standard of general education with proven literacy and numeracy skills
