An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a Rehabilitation Assistant to join our multi-disciplinary Respiratory Care Team in North West Surrey (NWS).
The post is primarily to support the clinicians in running Pulmonary Rehabilitation services within NWS. The role will support the running of exercise and education group sessions, alongside a lead clinician, setting up the gym environment, booking patients onto courses, equipment delivery, and inputting data. You will be directly involved in supporting patients through a rehabilitation course. You may be required to support clinicians in other areas of service delivery.
The team works within primary care managing and supporting patients with respiratory diseases both in clinics and at home. Team activity includes disease and self-management education, admission avoidance support where appropriate, community clinics, and Pulmonary Rehabilitation groups. We provide early discharge programmes and support patients at home to live well with their disease. Previous experience of working within the Respiratory sector is not essential and training will be provided.
The successful candidate must have good communication and organisational skills with a flexible approach to meet the ever-changing needs of the service.

Main duties of the job
The CSH Adult Respiratory Care Team (RCT) provides specialist clinical advice and care, supporting the delivery of commissioned activities to adult patients within the North West Surrey area (NWS).
The post holder will work primarily as part of the established team by supporting active case management to patients and carers as part of their pulmonary rehabilitation programmes. They may also be asked to work within a patient's home environment, during oxygen assessments and at specialist clinics/community hubs. The post will provide clinical and administrative support to the clinical team. Training will be provided for clinical support and no previous respiratory experience is required.

Job responsibilities
To work closely with the RCT to contribute to an efficient service for patients with chronic respiratory conditions.
To be able to carry out assigned tasks involving direct patient care and with appropriate training to also include:
1. Participate in the running of pulmonary rehabilitation programmes; this includes setting up the exercise rooms and equipment as well as supporting the clinicians.
2. Routine observations of heart rate, blood pressure, temperature and respiration rate.
3. Use of pulse oximetry.
Tasks to be carried out strictly within the care plans / guidance set by the specialist nurse/physio and any changes / concerns / problems to be reported back immediately.
