When the construction phase starts the expectation is that you will be on site and based at our Emmock Substation Project just north of Dundee 5 days per week.
Salary: £40,600 - £61,000 depending on experience + car / cash allowance + performance-related bonus + range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

The role:
SSEN Transmission has an opportunity for a Site Construction Manager (Electrical), experienced in the principles of construction and commissioning of major transmission substations.
The Site Construction Manager will play a vital role in the project team delivering the 400kV Emmock Substation Project just north of Dundee. This is a site-based role and when the construction phase starts, the expectation is that you will be on site 5 days a week.
You will:
* Represent the SSEN Transmission business on-site and be the key and potentially sole site-based point of contact. Key construction scope includes earthworks, civils construction, building construction, air-insulated switchgear installation, transformer installation, earthing, building supplies, busbar installation and commissioning activities.
* Ensure the project is executed in accordance with relevant requirements, particularly relating to statutory and legal obligations, health and safety, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, quality & technical compliance, internal & external stakeholder management.
* Work closely with the appointed contractor(s) and the SSEN Operations team to ensure the works are delivered to the project programme, with appropriate resource levels and develop and maintain a positive and collaborative safety culture and community on site.
* Provide weekly/monthly reports to the Project Manager and ensure that the Contractor is providing sufficiently detailed weekly reporting as part of the project deliverables including records associated to the safety, quality and testing on site such as ITPs, KPIs etc.
* Develop effective relationships with contractors, suppliers and the community, act as a leader on site and champion for a positive safety culture.
You have:
* Previous experience working on-site on the construction and commissioning of High Voltage Substations or other similar large infrastructure construction projects.
* Experience in site management of similarly complex works in construction or utilities and a strong engineering and construction knowledge including the safety and CDM regulations.
* Effective leadership in challenging environments and ability to cope with conflicting demands, and have excellent planning, organising and communication skills including being competent in the use of IT (Word, Excel, ACC/BIM etc).
* An HND in engineering or construction management (or equivalent) and must hold SMSTS 5-day site management qualification or equivalent.
* Understanding of NEC forms of contracts including previous experience fulfilling the role of NEC Supervisor.
The role requires a full current driving licence due to the requirement to travel to and be on site and during the construction phase you will be expected to be on site 5 days/week.
