About the Department The Operational Risk Oversight (Central Functions) Team sits within the Enterprise Risk department, a key part of abrdn’s wider Risk & Compliance division. Enterprise Risk covers various areas, including risk assessment, data analytics, reporting, conduct, data privacy, compliance oversight, and business partnering for abrdn’s central functions. This team plays a pivotal role in supporting abrdn’s client-led growth strategy across its Investments, Adviser, and Personal businesses. About the Role This role supports the risk oversight, challenge, and advice for abrdn’s central functions, including Information Technology, Information Security, and Third Party Risk Management. The role holder will work as a business partner, focusing on operational risk management, risk identification and controls, and embedding abrdn’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework. The role also involves coordinating major change initiatives, operational resilience, and third-party oversight within abrdn’s first line of defence (1LoD). Key Responsibilities Provide oversight, challenge, and advice to ensure the Enterprise Risk Management Framework is effectively embedded within Technology and Cyber. Develop and maintain relationships with business and functional partners, offering improved support and guidance on operational risk framework tools and processes. Ensure that technology and cyber risks are appropriately mitigated and that corrective actions are implemented and tracked to completion. Assist with the production of specialist oversight reports and other outputs from the team. Support the production of management information and collaborate with colleagues to create and maintain a strong control environment for business areas. Assist in the delivery of functional activities within the wider Risk & Compliance function when required. About the Candidate The ideal candidate will possess the following: Strong knowledge of technology, resilience, and/or cyber security. Exceptional partner management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and deliver proactive and collaborative solutions. A strong sense of intellectual curiosity to uncover insights that strengthen risk management. An outcome-focused approach with strong facilitation and collaborative working skills. Practical knowledge of operational risk management framework components such as risk identification, risk event management, and scenario development.
