What will you be doing as a Software Support Specialist?
We’re looking for a Software Support Engineer to provide 2nd line technical support for our customers and internal teams via phone, email, and ticketing systems. You’ll troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues in a PHP, MySQL, and Vue.js environment, working closely with 1st line support, developers, and product teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Diagnose and fix software issues across PHP, MySQL, and Vue.js codebases, including a bespoke PHP framework and Laravel.
* Analyse database queries, logs, and system performance.
* Apply GitFlow branching strategies for code fixes.
* Escalate complex issues when necessary and document solutions.
* Collaborate with developers to prevent recurring issues.
* Contribute to sprint planning, testing, and best practice implementation.
What are we looking for?
* Hands-on experience in software/technical support or development.
* Strong PHP & MySQL troubleshooting skills.
* Experience with Vue.js, HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
* Knowledge of Git (GitFlow), REST APIs, SQL debugging, and performance tuning.
* Proficient in debugging tools, log analysis, and system monitoring.
* Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
* The following would be desirable:
* Experience with Laravel, SOLID principles, and unit testing.
* Familiarity with Jira, Zendesk, Agile, ITIL certification.
* Background in cloud solutions (AWS, CI/CD) and modern deployment pipelines.
This is a Hybrid role, offering the flexibility to work between home and our Gosforth Office.
