Description Wood is looking for a Senior Accountant to support our Africa business unit on a flexible hybrid working pattern. The position is based in Aberdeen, Scotland and candidates must therefore have the right to work in the UK. The objective of this role is to ensure all accounting entries within the individual’s area of control (i.e. project, contract, service line) are recorded in an accurate and timely manner. This involves the provision of timely reporting of financial data internally to business stakeholders and externally to the client. Furthermore, financial reporting will extend to forecasts, budgets and a 'no surprise' outlook, together with ad-hoc financial analysis. This may require the management of a small team of accountants. Responsibilities Management of all accounting entries to ensure they are prepared accurately and in line with corporate deadlines. Management of invoices to ensure they are prepared in a timely manner and in accordance with commercial terms of the contract. Ensure results are accurately reported and analysed. Effective management of the accounting team. Calculation of billing and cost rates, and analysis of margins to manage profitability. Preparation and management of annual plan and quarterly reforecast in conjunction with Business Management and Finance team. Responsibility for compliance with Financial Management Framework within the individuals sphere of control. Focus on cash collection, optimisation of DSO and minimisation of unbilled items together with ensuring these balance sheet areas are appropriately reconciled, analysed and controlled. Liaising with external, internal and client auditors. Linkage with business manager and contracts administrator regarding any contractual aspects Execution of various ad hoc financial analysis and tasks as and when required. Focal point for the Delhi Accounting, AR and payments team. Responsible for day-to-day entity activities. Qualifications Qualifications: Further education through College or University with a recognized accounting qualification Qualified or Part Qualified CIMA / ACCA / CPA or equivalent Knowledge, skills and experience: 5 years accounting experience Proficient user of excel People supervision experience and skills Good commercial experience Good at using ERP and other IT systems (Oracle, Hyperion) Personal attributes: Ability to form and maintain strong working relationships Good people skills and ability to develop team Customer focused – internally and externally Ability to discuss issues clearly and concisely at all levels within the organisation
