Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Year 4)

Are you a caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? A fantastic school in Blackpool, with around 300 pupils and class sizes of 25-30, is seeking a committed individual to provide 1:1 support for a child in Year 4. This role is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in a child’s educational journey.
We’re looking for someone with excellent communication skills, patience, and a proactive mindset to help a child overcome barriers to learning. Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored one-on-one and small-group support to students with SEN, helping them engage with classroom activities and achieve their learning goals.
* Assist with differentiating tasks to ensure all students can access the curriculum, particularly those with lower ability.
* Support the class teacher with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and provide input for progress reviews.
* Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and positive learning environment that promotes emotional stability and engagement.
* Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to teachers and the SENCO.
* Assist with general classroom management and preparation of teaching materials.
* Promote social and emotional development, building students' confidence and independence.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience working with children with SEN in a primary school setting, particularly in managing behavioural and learning needs.
* Strong understanding of strategies for supporting differentiated learning and emotional development.
* Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with teachers, SENCOs, and school staff.
* A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting children’s educational needs.
* Relevant qualifications, such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or Health & Social Care, are desirable but not essential with sufficient experience.
