We are looking to appoint a Quality Engineer with a focus on Special Process with industry knowledge and aerospace experience to work as part of our quality team within our sheet metal and assembly business at our Dukinfield (Cheshire) site.
About the opportunity
As the Quality Engineer for Special Process, you will play an integral part in the oversight of special process (soft metal heat treatment and testing) compliance, carrying out regular process audits, management audit or improvement actions, leading on CI activities and preparing for and hosting NADCAP / other client heat treatment and testing audits.
Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, your role is to ensure that our NADCAP / heat treatment and testing approvals are maintained, provide expertise and technical support to the production team and work closely with the suppliers that carry out equipment calibration, maintenance and testing.
You will build on your industry knowledge and experience, keeping up to date with best practice and participate in internal and external training. You will also work closely with the quality departments from other Hyde business units and clients as required.
As a key member of the quality team, the role is site-based and you may on occasion need to act up in the absence of the Quality Manager providing ad-hoc reports or other updates to the senior leadership team as required.
Preferred Skills
1. Expertise in soft metal heat treatment processes and testing.
2. NADCAP experience preferred.
3. Experience of carrying out internal audits and hosting external audits.
4. Demonstrated ability to understand technical specifications.
5. Good understanding of the quality management systems (QMS) in either Aerospace/Automotive industry.
6. Excellent communication skills are imperative.
7. Must have good teamwork ethic, be highly pro-active and motivated.
8. Excellent customer-facing skills with a proactive approach to problem solving.
9. IT literate, in particular SAP, Microsoft Project, Excel and PowerPoint.
10. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills (Lean/six sigma knowledge preferred).
11. The willingness to work flexible hours should the business need arise.
