Corporate Affairs Manager, Public Policy Germany
We are seeking a Manager, Corporate Affairs, to join the Public Policy team in Berlin, Germany with a focus on community engagement programs and initiatives.
The Manager, Corporate Affairs, will implement and manage local Community engagement programs, projects, and initiatives at or near Amazon corporate offices in support of Amazon’s efforts to be an engaged corporate citizen and neighbor in Berlin and across Germany. The candidate will support and drive engagement with local community stakeholders, non-profit organizations, neighborhood groups, civic and trade associations and other stakeholders to establish and foster relationships and partnerships in support of Amazon’s presence in Berlin and across Germany. The Manager Corporate Affairs will have a good understanding of policies and requirements related to corporate social responsibility engagement, and have experience in engaging with national, state level and local government stakeholders, business leaders and NGOs.
This position will work in close collaboration with internal business partners such as Amazon Community Impact, Public Relations, Global Real Estate & Facilities, Economic Development, Worldwide Operations, and Public Policy teams.
The ideal candidate for this role will seek to have a visible, involved, and well-connected presence in the community, meeting people where they are in ways that are meaningful to our neighbors, employees, and customers. The candidate must have a proven track record of defining and moving complex business and community initiatives from concept to completion. The ideal candidate will have an insistence on high standards and strong attention to detail. Finally, the candidate must also be able to effectively measure success using traditional and non-traditional metrics.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Basic qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree required.
2. At least 8+ years of relevant experience in community relations, corporate social responsibility, public affairs or equivalent experience, ideally in an NGO, business, Think Tank or public organization.
3. An ability and desire to travel is required.
4. Candidate should be fluent in German and English.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications:
1. Experience developing and executing external affairs, community relations, and/or corporate social responsibility strategies in a corporate environment.
2. Must be able to work independently, have a hands-on approach and be comfortable working through complexity.
3. Strong project management skills.
4. Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills; demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate, political, and community levels for a diverse variety of audiences.
5. Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment/decision-making skills and political acumen.
6. Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with community partners, civic leaders and other stakeholders.
