Main Purpose of the Job
The main purpose of the Driver is to transport and manage company deliveries in a safe and timely manner. The Driver is responsible for arranging regular cleaning and maintenance services for the vehicle to always represent the business as well as planning each route based on road and traffic conditions.
Main Duties
1. Collecting stock or goods from a collection point and ensuring that all customer orders are complete
2. Overseeing the loading of the goods on the delivery vehicle in an organised manner that matches the order in which the deliveries will be made and in a safe and legal manner
3. Planning the best routes to clients by taking factors like roadblocks, traffic, and vehicular restrictions into consideration
4. Using GPS navigation apps and knowledge of the area to deliver to customers on time
5. Completing regular maintenance checks on delivery vehicles and informing management of any issues and completing daily checks prior to undertaking any driving of the vehicle
6. Driving in inclement weather such as snow in a safe and appropriate style of driving
7. Delivering products in good condition to our clients
8. Interacting with clients in a friendly and professional manner and in accordance with site SHEQ rules and regulations
9. Where appropriate and safe, unloading packages at the destination and getting clients to sign the necessary paperwork
10. Updating route, mileage and delivery logs
11. Operating Hiab to unload heavy materials
12. Reporting any incidents or accidents to the management immediately or as soon as practicably possible in accordance with the highway code and safe driving practices
13. Participating in training and courses to stay abreast of developments in the transport industry
14. Adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations to avoid accidents or incidents
15. Safely driving vehicles up to 7.5 ton
Qualifications
* Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (preferably up to 7.5 ton)
* Proven work experience as a Driver or relevant role
