The RMBC Workshop Maintenance team has an excellent opportunity for a qualified Workshop LV Technician/MOT Tester to join our in-house maintenance operation based in Hellaby Rotherham. You will be an important part of the team and contribute to the overall success of the business and ensure we meet our requirements as an Approved MOT Centre. The Council currently operates a fleet of over 200 vehicles and grounds maintenance machinery and aspire to provide services through our fully equipped facility.
You will be part of a strong and supportive team and will have the opportunity to develop your skills further as new technology is introduced. We are looking for hardworking and conscientious people to work in a busy environment, providing an essential and valuable service and in turn the communities of Rotherham.
The Post holder will be required to demonstrate technical expertise in delivery of up to 8 MOT/Taxi Compliance tests a day to the required DVSA Standard.
The post holder will be required to provide a high standard of fault diagnosis, maintenance, inspection, repair, and MOT preparation, on a diverse range of vehicles. This could include preparing, presenting, Vehicles for their annual MOT inspection as well as the possibility to carrying out periodic safety inspections on vehicles to DVSA inspection manual standards.
The Post holder may at times be required to work on complex hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems, in some cases using the latest vehicle diagnostic technology.
The post holder will also be required to input data onto the Taxi compliance database.
There may be at times a requirement from time to time, to attend broken down or accident damaged vehicles and carry out permanent or temporary repairs, as well as conducting pre-delivery inspections for new fleet vehicles and decommissioning services at the end of their life cycle.

Until 31st March 2026 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a monthly deduction from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded three additional days leave (pro rata for part-time).
