Job Introduction
An exciting opportunity has arisen for us to appoint a driven and enthusiastic Head of PE, Sport and Swimming, with a passion for learning and a desire to maximise the potential of each child on their journey through the School. The role will be a temporary maternity cover for approx. 2 terms. The appointee will be responsible for teaching PE and swimming from Reception to Form 6, and leading sport fixtures across KS2. This role will suit a passionate teacher, with a firm understanding of current relevant pedagogy and assessment practices, and a desire to engage in the wider life of the School. We pride ourselves on knowing our children well and creating a personalised learning journey for each and every one of them. We can offer the right candidate small classes, happy and responsive pupils, and a supportive working environment. We reserve the right to interview before the closing date if we receive a suitable early application.
This role is part-time – 3.5 days per week. Our school day runs from 8.25am-3.40pm with a one-hour club commitment after school, once per week. A weekly staff meeting runs until 5pm. While some staff prefer to work during school hours, there is also flexibility to work outside of the hours of the school day.
This post will involve regulated activity with children, meaning being responsible on a regular basis for teaching, supervising, training, instructing, and caring for children without supervision.
Staff are expected to take responsibility for their own continuous professional development, including attending relevant training and CPD, and to participate in the annual performance review process.
We have a commitment to safeguarding the pupils in our school. Safer recruitment checks will be conducted.
The Ideal Candidate
Enthusiastic individual possessing drive, energy, and commitment, with a presence that engenders confidence and respect from pupils, colleagues, and parents.
1. Proven ability to inspire pupils.
2. Ability to plan, prioritise, and manage a varied workload.
3. Team focused: shares knowledge and information with other members of staff to promote good practice.
4. Focuses on what needs to be delivered: understands what is needed and responds promptly.
5. Commitment to the highest standards of educational and pastoral care for all pupils.
