This post offers a special opportunity to work with senior civil servants and rapidly gain experience of a wide range of policy and departmental issues both within the Department and across His Majesty’s Government. You will be part of a network of Private Office personnel and have a high degree of visibility across the Department. Prior knowledge and experience of supporting senior leaders and government affairs would be an advantage. Tailored support and training will be provided.
Reporting to the Private Secretary, you will work flexibly with the other members of the team, enabling the DG to operate at maximum effectiveness in a busy and demanding role, whilst maintaining the highest professional standards of the Civil Service.
Successful applicants will be highly motivated, adaptable, innovative, dependable and a collaborative professional, prepared to work in a team supporting some of the most challenging, high profile and interesting issues in government.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Reporting to the Private Secretary and working closely with the Diary Manager, Chief of Staff and policy teams to ensure the DG is aware and prepared for all her engagements and receives high-quality information prior and maintain clear focus on all engagement objectives.
* providing clear, accurate and timely advice on the DG’s decisions, opinions and
* analysing submissions, correspondence, briefing and other papers, and preparing them for the DG’s attention.
* supporting the DG at a variety of meetings, including preparing agendas and minute taking
