Transpennine Route Upgrade
The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is the largest infrastructure project in the North, delivering a £10.7 billion programme of activities that is improving the railway between York and Manchester via Leeds and Huddersfield.
Brief Description
The role(s) sit within the TRU Central delivery team reporting to the Programme Engineering Manager (PEM) & Project Delivery Engineering Manager (PDEM), working on the W2BC major enhancement project that commissions in 2032.
We are looking for demonstrably experienced railway engineers that are keen and enthusiastic, with demonstrable experience of delivering projects, collaborating with the supply chain, applying the principles of the Common Safety Method for Risk Evaluation and Assessment (CSM-RA) and undertaking engineering management as required.
About the role (External)
Some of the key accountabilities of this role are:
1. Implement Network Rail systems and procedures to maintain a cost effective, high quality, safe and environmentally responsible approach to design, construction, commissioning and other technical activities on relevant projects.
2. Engineer Projects to the standards and specification of Network Rail.
3. Manage all engineering activities to ensure schemes are affordable and meet programme requirements.
4. Maintain the use of relevant techniques for risk assessment and manage the environmental aspects of allocated projects.
5. Monitor design and specialist consultants and contractors.
6. Provide project management advice in respect of all construction activities.
7. Ensure internal and contractors design and construction personnel are competent.
8. Undertake reviews of design and/or construction activities.
9. Carry out the duties of designated project engineer (DPE) for specific projects.
10. Identify and share best practice across the various project teams.
We need you to have:
1. Relevant experience in the track engineering discipline.
2. Technical qualifications to HNC/HND or equivalent GNVQ level.
3. Knowledge of quality assurance relating to engineering.
4. CDM, risk assessment, engineering management competency.
It would be advantageous if you have:
1. Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status.
2. Previous experience of Project Engineer or Contractors Responsible Engineer duties.
3. Demonstratable knowledge of track engineering standards.
4. Six Sigma Yellow Belt.
