Zoetis Veterinary Medicine Research and Development, Product Sustainability, Quality & Logistics in Cambridge, UK is seeking a talented, experienced individual to provide logistic oversight at the Sr. Scientist level. Zoetis is a global animal health company dedicated to supporting customers and their businesses. Building on 60 years of experience, we deliver quality medicines, biopharmaceuticals, and vaccines, complemented by diagnostic products and genetic tests and supported by a range of services. We are currently seeking to fill new positions to support our growing research portfolio.
Position Summary
This position involves working closely with scientists from various therapeutic area teams to manage the logistics and movement of critical samples and supplies. The role is essential for ensuring the efficient and compliant movement and handling of biological samples across our global footprint. The successful candidate will enable a logistic operation, maintaining the integrity and quality of samples from collection to distribution and into storage. They will collaborate extensively with our research and development scientists, regulatory agencies and external laboratory vendors/contract research organizations (CROs).
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Sample and Material Management: Oversee the collection, transportation, storage, and distribution of biological samples, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and quality control measures. Provide compliant material management support for materials moving between sites. Maintain the chain of custody for biological specimens.
* Logistics Coordination: Develop and implement strategies to optimize the flow of samples and materials within our biobanks. Collaborate with researchers, laboratory staff, and external partners, while serving as a subject matter expert for domestic, export, and import logistics.
* Quality Assurance and Inventory Control: Maintain high standards of sample integrity through rigorous quality control procedures. Manage inventory systems to track sample locations, quantities, and conditions.
* Data and Document Management: Ensure accurate documentation and data entry related to sample handling and logistics operations. Facilitate draft reviews and prepare documents in conjunction with our Global Distribution Center.
* Compliance and Regulatory Adherence: Ensure compliance with all government rulings related to import, export, and domestic shipments. Support the execution of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule for the United States Classification coding for importing materials.
* Exporter Instructions and Customs Clearance: Support communications to exporters detailing specific procedures to ensure safe transportation of goods and expedite customs clearance. Support the collection of all entry information to the company's designated customs broker and support review of all documentation provided to customs by the broker.
* Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with the current Bureau of Export Administration, International Air Transport Association (IATA), DOT, EPA, NRC, and internal compliance regulations. Keep accurate records of all hazardous material shipments for auditing by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), FAA, and NRC.
Qualifications:
* BS/MS degree in the supply chain field, or related field with a minimum of 4 years industry experience.
* Experience navigating international shipping requirements, such as the GB & EU Customs Regulations. Navigation of custom regulation post Brexit highly valuable.
* International Air Transport Association (IATA) Training
* Ability and comfort with learning/using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), and online inventory databases.
* Experience in logistics or supply chain management, preferably within a laboratory setting.
* Strong organizational and coordination skills.
* Capable of working with minimal oversight in a cross-functional environment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work flexibly in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
* Skills and experience in experimental design, technical problem solving and continuous improvement.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The placement of this position will be primarily in Cambridge, UK. Occasional travel to other Zoetis sites may also be requested. The person filling this position will work predominantly in a laboratory setting. There may be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals. There may be handling of, and/or exposure to animal tissue and zoonotic organisms.
