To work Monday-Friday 8.30am-3.30pm (x1 position)
To supervise and provide support for a pupil with SEN in our KS1 class, ensuring safety and access to learning activities.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the development and implementation of Targeted Learning Plans.
2. Establish constructive relationships with the pupil and interact with them according to individual needs.
3. Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
4. Encourage the pupil to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
5. Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence.
6. Provide feedback in relation to progress and achievement under the guidance of the SENCO/Class Teacher/Deputy Head.
7. Deliver pastoral and learning support.
8. Support the child with the KS1 Curriculum and have a good level of Maths and English.
9. Use strategies, in liaison with the SENCO/Class Teacher/Deputy Head, to support the pupil to achieve learning goals.
10. Assist with the planning of learning activities.
11. Monitor the pupil’s responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed.
12. Provide detailed and regular feedback to SENCO/Deputy Head on the pupil’s achievement, progress, and any problems.
13. Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy.
14. Establish and maintain constructive relationships with parents/carers by supporting their role in the pupil’s learning, providing constructive feedback on the pupil’s progress and achievements.
15. Promote and safeguard the welfare of children that you are responsible for or come into contact with.
Minimum Requirements:
1. A good level of English and Maths.
2. A childcare qualification would be desirable.
3. Proven successful experience of working with children in an educational setting.
4. Experience of working with SEN children.
5. Ability to work as part of a team.
6. Able to communicate effectively with a range of people.
7. Excellent listening skills.
8. Well organised and practical.
9. Ability to diffuse conflict.
10. Adaptable and flexible.
11. Calm under pressure.
12. Able to form and maintain a range of teaching and learning strategies.
13. Able to form and maintain appropriate professional relationships and boundaries with children and parents.
14. Able to deal with sensitive information in a confidential manner.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £11.44 per hour
