THE BUSINESS
Westray Recruitment Group is seeking to recruit an Operations Director for our production-based client within the Immingham area. To qualify for this opportunity, you will either be a current Operations Director or a seasoned Operations Manager who is looking to climb the career ladder.
Our client has a £20M turnover and, as well as being a stand-alone business, they also form part of a much wider group. The group has been growing via acquisition, and this business has no major competitors in their marketplace; they truly are the market leader in their field of expertise. The business is backed with investment, and the challenge of the role is for the successful candidate to join the business and spearhead their objective of increasing production.
THE ROLE
Overall responsibility for Planning & Supply Chain (including admin office), Production & Compliance, Engineering, and all other factory activities. Key member of the senior management team and deputises for the Managing Director in their absence.
Managing the overall operations of the business through a team of managers, supervisors, and team leaders (the role will hold approximately 30 reports).
Driving operational performance to meet the demands of customers and the business.
Ensuring key metrics are recorded and reviewed to maintain efficiency, control costs, and promote continuous improvement.
Maintaining and developing a team structure to meet the operational requirements, including 24/7 production.
Ensuring the necessary resources are in place and developed to maintain cost-effective and efficient production.
Control the planning and prioritisation of all operations to ensure maximum performance, minimum delay, and cost efficiency.
Overseeing the maintenance and repair of all plant, equipment, and infrastructure to achieve a safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation.
Continually assess plant and system operations to identify potential performance improvements.
Managing the Permit-to-Work and Control of Contractors systems to ensure safe execution of all work activities.
Implementing and reviewing safety, environmental, and quality systems to ensure full compliance with statutory regulations and company policies.
Develop risk assessments, safe systems of work, and ensure site inspections/audits are periodically carried out to maintain statutory and company standards.
Promote and encourage a high level of housekeeping to create safe and efficient working areas.
Contribute to business cases, development, and implementation to produce optimum business improvements.
Submit project proposals to meet strategic development of the business and manage timely implementation to produce cost-effective and optimum improvements.
Control all operational purchasing & budgets to ensure the overall cost effectiveness of the business.
Negotiate prices, contracts, lead-times while developing new and existing relationships with suppliers.
Utilise and develop the company ERP/MRP system to plan and track the supply chain end-to-end.
Manage working capital by minimising excess stock while ensuring the required supply of products.
Creating a culture of excellence to meet or exceed our customer’s expectations and achieve the highest service levels while remaining cost-effective.
THE PERSON
Minimum level of position held would be Operations Manager.
Must come from a fast-paced, production-based environment.
Must be able to impact organisational culture.
Must be experienced driving change within production environments.
Must be cost-focused and able to generate efficiencies.
Must be able to collate and utilise key production metrics to help drive the business.
Able to motivate and drive teams.
It would be beneficial to have experience within a 24/7 production environment.
Open to a variety of production-based/market backgrounds (product training will be given).
Data-driven personality.
Able to take ownership of tasks and delegate work.
