An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Radiotherapy Planning department for a full time, Band 3 Senior Assistant Admin Support Practitioner (Radiotherapy Physics), to join the administration team based at Derriford Hospital.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, effective communicator and motivated individual to join our team. The post-holder will be working closely with clinical and administrative colleagues to ensure tasks are completed to a high standard ensuring the smooth running of the service.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clerical services for the Radiotherapy Physics section within the Healthcare Science and Technology Directorate.
The post will provide a wealth of opportunities to develop and broaden abilities.
This role is demanding and interesting and will require someone who is adaptable and able to work under pressure, has attention to detail, skill to manage a variety of tasks to ensure to meet deadlines within the service. The ideal candidate must have a 'can do' attitude and ability to use their own initiative with effective communication/interpersonal and IT skills. A friendly and approachable nature are essential for this role as you will be interacting with patients as they embark on their Radiotherapy treatment pathway.
Main duties of the job
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
To co-ordinate and deliver a comprehensive Admin service to Radiotherapy Physics in an efficient and timely manner. This will primarily include work in the Stereotactic and External Beam Radiotherapy services.
Working on own initiative and maintaining good communications between the team, patients, carers and other health professionals.
To contribute to the effective delivery of patient treatment pathways.
To maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with the Trust Code of Practice.
T o work in line with the Trust values and professional policies /codes of conduct.
To prioritise demand, accommodate unplanned events and work without direct supervision.

Qualifications
Essential
1. 5 GCSE including A-C in Math and English, or equivalent
2. NVQ Level 2-3 (Admin/Clerical skill), or demonstrable equivalent
Desirable
3. IT Skills/qualification European computer driving licence, or equivalent
4. Demonstrable Audio Typing experience (Big Hand)
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
5. Demonstrable experience of delivering a wide range of administrative and secretarial tasks to a high standard in a patient/service focused environment
6. Able to exercise own initiative and prioritise/manage own workload, without direct supervision
Desirable
7. Hospital information system experience PIMS, CRIS, iSOFT etc. Knowledge & Experience with Patient Tracker Lists [PTL]
8. Understanding of Scientific and medical terms
