Locogen are looking for a Principal Electrical Project Engineer to join our growing, innovative renewables company. This role can be fully remote or hybrid (from our Stockbridge, Edinburgh HQ) if you prefer.

About our Principal Electrical Project Engineer role
The Principal Electrical Project Engineer is a core role within our Engineering and Construction team. This is a varied role leading and supporting assessments and decision-making from the early stages of developments to managing grid connections and site commissioning.
Some of the things you may find yourself doing
Providing Engineering and technical services:
* Collaborating with the team, providing technical input into electrical engineering FEED for renewable technologies and grid connection applications.
* Inputting into design reviews and helping to resolve design issues.
* Undertaking due diligence work, assessing the electrical design and identifying any technical risks.
* Contributing knowledge of applicable electrical standards and best practice.
* Contributing knowledge of key electrical component specifications and current prices.
Acting as an Owner’s Engineer (OE) at pre-construction and construction phases:
* Producing detailed electrical design reviews (e.g. single line diagrams, protection diagrams, cable sizing, earthing studies, SCADA, and equipment specifications).
* Visiting sites to ensure works follow the design and are to a high standard.
* Managing electrical technical queries from contractors.
* Liaising with network operator/contractor/client for the project’s grid connections at both distribution and transmission level, ensuring compliance with UK Grid Code and other regulations.
* Managing internal and external technical specialists to deliver high-quality projects.
Contract management:
* Understanding construction contracts such as Electrical Balance of Plant (EBoP), Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC), and Independent Connections Provider (ICP) contracts using either FIDIC, NEC4, or client’s own bespoke agreements.
* Creating the technical sections of the Employer’s Requirements (ER’s) or Scope for contract specifications.
* Reviewing tender submissions to ensure compliance and value.
* Leading and/or contributing to the production of tendering documents for EPC and ICP contracts.
* Assisting in contract administration and providing technical advice on contractor’s claims and disputes when required.
The following experiences and qualifications are required:
* Undertaken the OE role in multiple utility scale renewable energy projects connected at both distribution and transmission.
* Strong working knowledge of relevant IEC / BS Standards including BS7671.
The following are desirable:
* Chartered Member of IET.
* Worked as OE on BESS co-located projects.
