Sunday Shift Support Worker (9 a.m. until 5 p.m. or 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. with scope for extra hours)
Purpose of the Role:
Positive Behaviour Support Coaches are employed by KASBAH to support people with learning and/or physical disabilities towards independence within a Supported Living setting. The role requires the post holders to provide varying degrees of support, assistance, training and practice to resident, depending on their individual needs and contribute to the effective and safe delivery of high quality professional services and facilities. To promote effective participation and enhance specific learning for the individual to achieve their full potential.
The role requires staff to actively use the skills, knowledge and training that KASBAH invest in them.
This includes personal care tasks (KASBAH is a CQC registered provider) in line with KASBAH's ethos of promoting independence.
Responsibilities and Supervision:
· Positive Behaviour Support Coaches are responsible for the residents on site in regards to supervision (especially in the kitchen), training activities, general support and communication when residents are off-site. In addition to allocated key worker duties.
· Positive Behaviour Support Coaches will take responsibility for supervising residents and ensuring the training and services provided are of the highest standards and quality.
· Positive Behaviour Support Coaches will have an understanding of Positive Behaviour Support and how to reflect this in their practice.
· A Positive Behaviour Support Coach; looks for the cause of behaviour rather than focusing on the behaviour being presented.
· Understands the need for being proactive with planning as opposed to being reactive, this includes thorough risk assessing and knowledge of each resident
· To have full commitment in practicing the Low Arousal Approach; being aware of the need to always appear calm and to not escalate situations through own behaviour.
· Understanding that residents see their staff as their friends and that staff play an enormous role in their lives. It will be understood that some residents will regularly express their love to their staff and will have a need to be told they are loved (liked) back.
· To devise and implement Individual Care Plans, Monthly Progress Reports, Goal Planners and Weekly Planners for those you key work.
· Constant supervision is required for all residents outside of the home this varies from shared support, 1:1 support and 2:1 support depending on the residents and their support needs.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £11.44-£11.60 per hour
