MISSION:
* Taking a proactive role in managing the company’s supplier and cost base
* Identifying new supplier and/or product opportunities
* Driving new product development, innovation and resourcing activity
* Contributing to the continuous improvement of the Purchasing function
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Day to day commercial management of the supplier base
* Product sourcing to include supplier prospecting, assessment of their pedigree, capability, customer base, financial well-being, price competitiveness, product quality, service levels, etc.
* Supplier contracts, agreements, and commercial terms (price, lead time, MOQ, payment terms, delivery terms, returns arrangements, rebate arrangements, etc.)
* Driving savings, working capital improvements and supply chain efficiencies through effective negotiation and procurement
* Validation of cost price movements by reference to changes in market indices (raw materials, exchange rates, freight rates), tracking these and reporting impact on business profitability
* Preparation for and attendance at supplier meetings, trade shows and business trips, communicating and managing resulting actions, and ensuring their timely completion
Project Management:
* Project management of new product introductions and resourcing activities, defining the critical path, working closely with all internal stakeholders (product management, technical, commercial, sales, marketing and inventory control teams) to ensure key milestones and deliverables are met
* Leading regular project review meetings with the project team for your categories, preparing minutes and determining actions, and formally reporting progress to the business monthly
Internal Stakeholder Support:
* Helping the product management team to optimise product baskets through effective sourcing
* Supporting commercial and marketing teams with new business tenders and promotional activities
* Supporting the inventory control team with resolution of all supply chain issues
* Working closely with the technical team in resolving product quality issues and achieving acceptable commercial resolution
* Working with internal stakeholders to put action plans in place to ensure KPIs are met
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
* Educated to Degree Level
* 2+ years’ experience in an OEM product sourcing/buying role with experience of working with a global third-party supplier base
* Proven track record of delivering results, cost savings and improvements
* Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and a thorough and accurate approach to work
* Strong project management and problem-solving skills
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in both a team environment and on own
* Negotiation experience in a previous procurement or supply chain role
* Organised, resourceful and a lateral thinker with a proactive approach to tasks
* Ability to work effectively in high-pressure and deadline-driven situations
* Computer literate with strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
* Drive, ambition and enthusiasm to deliver results and progress within the organisation
* MCIPS or part CIPS qualification
* ERP System experience
* Experience in sourcing electrical accessories from a global supply base
