As a member of our Engineering Team at Telent, you'll be empowered to innovate and drive common solutions, working closely with technical experts who are proud of the impact their work makes. Come join a high-performing team doing complex and critical work.
What you’ll do:
* Develop a solid understanding of the projects and learn how Rail communication systems are designed, used, and developed.
* Learn how to produce detailed designs using Design Tools such as Visio and AutoCAD.
* Gain an understanding of the design lifecycle as well as gaining insight into client requirements.
* Assist the Design Team with the delivery of key design projects and work towards strict deadlines.
* Escalate design issues where necessary and help manage the mitigation of risks and issues.
* Understand and adhere to the Health & Safety requirements of the UK rail infrastructure.
* Interface with other operational engineering departments.
* Produce and update project resource plans to assist with design delivery.
* Liaise with our client on project timelines.
Who you are & what to prepare for:
* No prior experience required as full training will be provided in all aspects of the role.
* You will receive a mobile phone and a laptop as part of the role.
* While supported throughout the programme, you will need to take ownership of your tasks and personal development.
* The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, planning and organization skills with the ability to use initiative and possess a positive, resilient work ethic.
The requirements:
* Minimum of 5 GCSEs grades 9 to 4, specifically in Maths, English, and Science or an IT-related subject (A* to C).
* A-Level or equivalent in Maths or Engineering subject desirable but not essential.
* Must be eligible to work in the UK.
* Must be over the age of 18 by September 2025.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Must be able to pass a pre-employment Drugs and Alcohol test (a safety requirement of working on/for UK Railways).
Programme Specifics:
* This apprenticeship is typically 30 months in duration.
* Starting salary of £17,500 which will increase throughout the duration of the programme.
* The qualification you gain will be a Level 3, Rail Engineering Design Technician.
* Our chosen training provider, National Training Academy for Rail, will support you in obtaining your qualification.
* Predominantly office-based at home but with frequent visits to our Warwick site and out on client sites.
* Upon completion of your apprenticeship, we hope to offer you a full-time position with Telent where you can continue to pursue your career.
* You will be mentored by colleagues, supervisors, managers, and tutors throughout the programme.
