As a Controls Engineer at BRUSH Power Gen, you will be an integral part of our controls engineering team, focused on ensuring the cyber security compliance of PRISMIC products by developing and upgrading software standards. Your responsibilities will include software design, security standards development, risk assessment, compliance analysis, and supporting other functions to safeguard PRISMIC products and ensure their secure deployment while complying with security standards.
Responsibilities:
* Software Design: Collaborate with the controls engineering team to design software for generator and power system control and monitoring systems, ensuring alignment with cyber security standards for Windows & QNX platforms.
* Security Standards Development: Develop best practices, procedures, checklists, and implement security standards for PRISMIC systems, meeting IEC and client-specific requirements.
* Common Terminology and Models: Create and maintain a repository of common terms, concepts, and models for PRISMIC systems for use by all engineers involved in control system design.
* Security Architecture: Conceptualize, define, and implement security systems and architectures to enhance cyber resilience of PRISMIC systems.
* Implementations: Implement secure network protocols such as SSL/TLS, HTTPS, SSH, SFTP, and secure industrial protocols for PRISMIC control systems.
* Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment: Conduct ongoing threat analysis and risk assessments to proactively identify and mitigate security risks.
* Software Quality Control: Maintain high standards of software quality, including version control using tools like GitLab.
* Project Support: Support project execution by preparing and reviewing technical specifications and providing applications engineering expertise.
* Cross-functional Collaboration: Participate in customer meetings, quality initiatives, and product reviews.
* On-site Support: Occasionally work on-site in the UK, offshore, or overseas to support sales and service.
* Professional Development: Stay updated on development tools, programming techniques, and security standards through continuous learning and professional engagement.
* Engineering Objectives: Contribute to departmental objectives and continuous professional development.
Support sales and service teams by working on-site as needed, and participate in ongoing product improvements.

Qualifications and Skills:
* Bachelor’s degree in Software, Electrical, Electronic, Control Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant experience.
* Proven experience in defining and implementing cybersecurity standards within software microsystems.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
* Design knowledge of control and communication systems including Modbus, Ethernet, IEC61850.
* High proficiency in C, C++, for QNX, embedded Linux, and Windows environments.
* Solid understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, cryptography, security protocols, and standards.
* Knowledge of automation and control system cybersecurity standards such as IEC62443.
* Experience with software quality control tools like GitLab.
* Good knowledge of WPF, C#, and .NET.
* Ability to interpret electrical power system components.
* Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and teamwork skills.
