Electrical Design Engineer | Hybrid Working | Barnsley | £52,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design stages and technical development of multiple projects from inception through to handover, ensuring that the client's design objectives are met across various disciplines including Electrical and HVAC elements.
The Electrical Design Engineer will work on a hybrid basis, between home, the company office based in Barnsley and client sites/projects based across the UK when required. A company car allowance for travel is included in the package, alongside a company software system which accommodates travel tickets and accommodation bookings. All Expenses will also be paid/reimbursed by the company.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:
1. Coordinate all design documentation, ensuring accurate collation and compilation throughout the project life cycle.
2. Lead technical solutions and provide guidance on project deliverables to Project Managers and Site Managers.
3. Develop accurate and comprehensive design drawing packages, including “As Fitted” drawings, ensuring best practice and cost-effective solutions for clients.
4. Conduct on-site reviews of live projects with the operational team to ensure quality standards and design adherence.
5. Utilise IT systems to track project progress and milestones.
6. Review and assess third-party design and cost submissions for accuracy and client specification adherence.
7. Produce detailed electrical design information in both written and drawing formats, utilising electronic software packages.
8. Maintain an in-depth understanding of commercial and industrial electrical systems. Awareness of critical environments and mission-critical systems is a plus.
9. Assist the commercial team in compiling accurate and comprehensive cost submissions.
10. Take a lead role in pre-construction activities, conducting site surveys and developing schedule of requirements (SOR) documentation.
11. Develop standardised processes and documentation to ensure consistency across all projects.
12. Outsource design activities where necessary to specialists, consultants, and sub-contractors.
13. Lead the compilation and development of tender submissions.
Candidate Profile / Requirements:
1. Experience in managing design projects within complex and technically challenging environments, particularly in construction and building services.
2. Strong organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
3. Qualifications in electrical engineering, preferably to C&G or HNC/HND standards.
4. Experience using AutoCAD and other design software packages.
5. Knowledge of BS#removed#th Edition Wiring Regulations and C&G Design, Erection, and Verification (2396).
6. Commercial awareness and strong numeracy skills.
7. A full UK driving license, and willingness to travel and stay overnight as required.
8. CSCS card
