We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Head of Power Station Integration, to be involved in an industry leading, cutting-edge project for a new type of power station.
Reporting to the Chief Plant Engineer, the Head of Power station integration is accountable for developing, maintaining and providing an integrated power station solution as the design matures and develops. The role covers the technical and programme leadership of a large multi-disciplinary team who will collectively support the integration of the power station.
Job Purpose:
The overall direction and governance of the programmes of work under their scope; development of the capability and capacity to support all aspects of integration: Systems Engineering, BIM, build certainty etc. Deployment and prioritisation of resources to support the design teams for 3D modelling resources.
The candidate will be a senior expert in system engineering, with a strong proven record of identifying and implementing best practice methods, tools and capabilities within their sphere of influence.
The role is a senior leadership figure within the business. It requires exceptional technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate others. They will use their experience and abilities to steer and influence at all levels, displaying a positive and collaborative leadership style, to ensure successful enterprise management and that all areas are working effectively and efficiently towards business objectives.
Success will demand extensive engagement with a wide range of senior internal and external stakeholders, supply chain partners, industry bodies and regulators, to ensure the design is progressed in accordance with broader commercial targets, industrial strategies and legislative requirements.
Key Results & What Can Be Achieved in The Role:
1. Technically lead and drive their specified elements of the design programme in line with the programme’s policies and processes.
2. Manage large multidisciplinary teams to deliver the full scope of tools, systems and processes for the integration of the power station recognising the key business drivers.
3. Own the delivery programme for their accountable scope of supply and create and manage suitable design milestone schedules.
4. Deliver the required design documentation/definition to the programme.
5. Manage and agree cross cutting/integratory requirements across the full scope of the power station and ensure requirements are satisfied.
6. Develop and implement robust governance processes for their scope of supply, integrating it into the wider power station / programme governance cycle.
7. Develop and lead the team to provide the required technical expertise to deliver the defined scope and provide the required support to the business.
8. Own the implementation of design configuration control process for their area of accountability, integrated with the wider programme.
9. Develop and lead the integration capability across the power station.
10. Deliver capability strategies to ensure that the business has the capability to deliver all aspects of power station integration in support of the design programme, covering in house and externally sourced capability.
11. Liaise with the IT and infrastructure department to ensure the required IT solutions are deployed to enable the required capability to be delivered.
12. Implement the programme Health, Safety and Environment policy on all designated activities.
The role has full delegated signing / approval authority from the Chief Plant Engineer related to delivery of their defined scope.
The Key Selection Criteria:
System Engineering - senior expert with a strong proven record of identifying & implementing best practice methods, tools and capabilities. - Experienced practitioner and leader in Systems Engineering and associated tools and techniques INCOSE qualified - demonstration of professionalism to this subset of engineering Demonstrable capability of approach to setting out SE and an ability to communicate this vision.
Integration - Develop and lead the integration capability across the power station - Experienced in development of key strategies for software utilisation Good understanding of CAD tools and deployment capabilities Extensive knowledge of BIM and its deployment through the lifecycle of the power plant Utilising SE knowledge to drive interface definition and monitoring of interface ‘project health’ Configuration management and knowledge transfer
Leadership - Demonstrable leadership of multi-discipline teams Strategic planning and ownership of scope areas Extensive experience in design management to include resource management and prioritisation
Communication & Stakeholder Management - Success will demand extensive engagement with a wide range of senior internal and external stakeholders, supply chain partners, industry bodies and regulators Excellent ability to present and communicate messaging at all levels across the business with excellent written/report writing capability, providing succinct and clear messaging
Configuration management - Develop & lead the configuration team and processes Experienced in developing and maintaining a team to undertake configuration of a complex design and construction project Demonstrable capability in controlling a configuration baseline including process development, tracking change control etc.
Qualifications & Training:
* Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an Engineering or related STEM discipline with industry experience or has relevant work experience.
* Chartered Engineer or equivalent in discipline
* INCOSE (or equivalent) – System Engineering Professional (achieved or working towards)

Pay and Benefits
* We anticipate paying a salary of between £80,000 - £100,000 plus:-
* Bonus - Performance related bonus of up to 20%
* Benefits Allowance – £8500, enabling you to create a bespoke package
* Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
* Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days
