An exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our NHS & Public Health Award Winning – Intermediate Care Team as the ‘Bed Based Intermediate Care Occupational Therapy Lead’.
We are an innovative, comprehensive team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistant Practitioners, Dietitians, Nurses, GP’s, Advanced Paramedic Practitioners, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Physician Associates, Social Workers, Reablement Workers, and Third Sector Agents striving to deliver the right support, at the right time in the right place as close to home as possible.
The Intermediate Care MDT work together to provide early intervention, rehabilitation and assessment in the community to immediately mitigate loss in function, risk of deconditioning, nutritional deficit, deterioration in their mental health.
Our approach is to deliver patient care in a holistic, person-centred manner, supporting patients, when possible, to stay/return in a safe manner to their own homes where they may continue to be a valued member of their own community.
This post holder will oversee the Occupational Therapy activity within the Bed Based rehabilitation units in Carmarthenshire – namely Amman Valley Community Hospital, Llandovery Community Hospital, Ty Pili Pala and other potential units as we evolve our services.
Main duties of the job
As a versatile postgraduate, you will need to have a strong clinical grounding in older people rehabilitation, complex manual handling, and a good understanding of current issues affecting intermediate care and community services.
You will have extensive experience and expertise in the principles, standards and delivery of bed based, community rehabilitation.
You will need the ability and skills to work autonomously and alongside members of the team in a managerial and clinical role.
The successful applicant will provide clinical leadership, specialist expertise and supervision to Occupational Therapy staff, Therapy Assistant Practitioners, Rehabilitation Assistants/Frailty Support Workers, and students.
With significant investment into our therapy resource, we are looking for an enthusiastic team lead to inspire and motivate them.
We are looking for an individual with great interpersonal skills to network with acute and community colleagues to co-ordinate a responsive, seamless service across pathways and sectors. You will have organisational ability and a commitment to service development by developing the evidence base for evaluation through audit, clinical effectiveness and research activity.

Qualifications and Knowledge
* Degree / Diploma in Occupational Therapy
* Professional registration as recognised by HPC
* Evidence of attendance on relevant short courses and advanced training relevant to specialist area up to Master's level equivalent
* MSc & / or postgraduate diploma level in relevant area
* Fieldwork Education Training
* Member of BAOT
* Leadership training
