An outstanding opportunity to join our Missile Actuation team as an Operations Lead, taking responsibility for the asset delivery, design readiness and transition of development Actuation Equipment into Series Production with corresponding Test Equipment for UK & non-UK programmes.
Salary: Circa £60,000 depending on experience
Dynamic (hybrid) working: Minimum 3 days onsite days per week on-site due to workload classification

The opportunity:
Our Missile Actuators Centre of Excellence specialises in the design, development and delivery of Complex Electromechanical Equipment, including:
* Aerodynamic control surfaces
* Gimbal systems
* Reaction control systems e.g. Thrust Vector Control, Divert Attitude and Control Systems (DACS)
* Deployment mechanisms
This role also extends to providing Design Support into Production so has responsibility across all periods of the MBDA Product Life Cycle (PLC) for delivery on cost, time and quality. Reporting to the Group Lead for Post Development, there are 2 parts to the role:
You will be responsible for delivering upstream support to Actuation development programs across the following areas:
* Leading the development of the Series Production Manufacturing System and supporting validation activities.
* Leading the Test Capability Development, Strategy and Asset Delivery.
* Manage the route-map to full rate and series production and facilitate priority calls with respect to equipment builds across a range of multiple projects.
* Defining Hardware strategy for New Product Development.
* Engaging with MEM and CMSE to drive down UPC business objectives.
* Working with the EDAs & CMSE to ensure that the design definitions are of the correct level of maturity to pass to the production teams, and that a consistent approach is being implemented across projects.
You will act as Actuator Design Authority (DA) for selected programs in series production to:
* Lead resolution design issues arising during production.
* Provide Design and Problem Management support to the Actuator Manufacturing Centre of Excellence (ACE) to resolve wider production issues acting with a “One Ops” approach.
* Work with ACE on the introduction of continuous improvements to Series Production to ensure manufacturing rate and quality can be achieved.
This role will suit an individual who is interested in both Work Package and Technical management in a multi-functional team, requiring the creation and updating of costed engineering plans and working with the Manufacturing, ISP and Test Equipment organisations to ensure customer needs are met in a timely fashion. In addition you’ll be supporting the Group's technology sourcing strategies to ensure that the product is aligned with future business needs.

* Reasonable experience of work package management or equivalent level of responsibility.
* Ability to demonstrate thinking and operating at a strategic level.
* Some past experience working with hardware delivery.
* An overcomer attitude, strong sense of diligence, and conviction to match.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across a variety of functions.
* Able to explain detail of previous Influencing and Negotiating skills in a professional context.
* Confident understanding of Gantt style planning techniques.
