Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term for 12 months due to maternity leave
Live Well is an integrated healthy lifestyle service which supports the residents of Leicester City to improve their health and wellbeing by offering support with smoking cessation, increasing physical activity, managing alcohol levels, and healthy eating.
We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual who will support our vision to create a smoke free generation, and a crucial part of this will be putting the community at the centre of everything we do.
As a Live Well Engagement Advisor, you'll be instrumental in helping individuals access the right support services at the right time. Working closely with clients, health professionals, volunteers, and service providers, you'll facilitate referral opportunities into the Live Well service. You will also be responsible for providing clients with the tools to make positive health changes, motivating them to stop smoking.
We are recruiting a full-time fixed term position working 37 hours per week. This role may require you to work on evenings and weekends in accordance with the needs of the service. You'll be based at Braunstone Health and Social Care Centre; however, you'll be required to travel across the city to undertake community visits. Appointment to this role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Live Well Engagement Advisor, you'll manage a caseload of clients and monitor their progress, as well as make onward referrals where appropriate, to support clients in further enhancing their health and wellbeing. You'll be required to organise and deliver outreach work with priority groups across Leicester city to target the hardest to reach smokers, such as people living in deprivation areas, adults in routine and manual occupations, adults who have never worked or are long-term unemployed, and social housing tenants.
In addition, you'll work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and be an exceptional communicator. You must be able to build relationships, prioritise your time effectively, and make a positive impact on local communities by developing and implementing new methods of engagement for the stop smoking service in Live Well.
What You'll Need
With previous experience working in local communities to support individuals to change their behaviour and facilitating these changes, you'll have an understanding of the national and local agenda in relation to smoking cessation, and knowledge of the impact of smoking on an individual's health. You must be a dedicated, organised, and reliable individual with a can do attitude, a real determination to succeed, and a solutions-focused outlook.
You must also be able to work with different people in a variety of situations.
You'll need to be comfortable in connecting with the wider community and developing strong partnerships across the city. You will need to be able to actively listen, gather the views of local people, and feed these back into our wider programme of work. With a mature and calm manner, you'll be able to prioritise tasks, and work under pressure to meet set objectives.
You will have completed the NCSCT (National Centre for Smoking Cessation & Training - Knowledge and Skills) programme OR will complete this within 1 month of commencement in the post.
What We Can Offer You
As well as the satisfaction of helping to improve thousands of lives across Leicester, you can look forward to a work environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance. You'll enjoy generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and the option of flexible working. We'll also give you the chance to develop your skills and expertise with a variety of training and development opportunities. In addition, you can choose from a number of flexible benefits, including discounts on city buses and trains.
