The successful post-holder will have expertise in both immunology and allergy and will work in partnership with the Consultant Clinical Immunologist and Allergist to set, develop, and expand the services we offer. This role is vital in establishing and delivering the highest standards of clinical care and supporting efficiency to drive improvements in health outcomes in allergy and immunology.
Using advanced nursing practice, the post-holder will be responsible for managing a case-load of patients referred for specialist intervention, care, and support
· To provide professional and clinical leadership in the care of patients within the specialty of Clinical Immunology and Allergy, catering for the needs of both allergy and immunology patients;
· To deliver evidence-based, personalised, and compassionate care that places quality at the heart of your specialist practice and care;
· To be responsive to individual needs and reflect the current local protocols and national guidelines;
· Work autonomously to provide an expert level of care by managing patients primarily in outpatient clinics but also inpatients alongside the consultant;
· Manage a caseload of patients within the specialty to meet patient and service need;
· Engage with referrals from other healthcare professionals and action these as necessary to ensure care quality optimisation;
· Advise and counsel on the complex disease and symptom management for patients within the specialty in both the inpatient and outpatient settings';
· Empower patients to manage their condition, using risk stratification techniques to identify education and health promotion strategies;
· Maintain clinical competencies relevant to the service and your role to demonstrate expertise and development;
· Engage with and support the research and audit functions of the service to continuously identify and deliver improvements
· Be familiar and implement requirements for IQAS and QPIDS accreditation standards.
