Senior Project Engineer/Aberdeen /Full-Time Permanent / Competitive SalaryPosition 1 Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer with a strong background in engineering and offshore projects to lead and manage the successful delivery of complex projects.
Senior Project Engineer will have a proven track record of managing project costs, schedules, and customer satisfaction, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. You will oversee all project stages, from handover to final installation, and be responsible for managing project teams, providing mentorship, and ensuring quality standards are met. Your role will involve regular communication with clients, suppliers, and internal departments, and you will act as the focal point for any technical and commercial issues.Key Responsibilities:
Ensure all tasks follow ISO 18001/9001/14001 guidelines, taking responsibility for Quality, Health, and Safety for your projects.Be the main point of contact for complex projects, providing guidance to clients, third-party bodies, and internal teams on both commercial and technical aspects.
Take ownership of the project from handover to completion, tracking and resolving actions.Identify and assess risks (commercial, contractual, design, schedule) and minimize their impact, reporting to senior staff.
Assist Sales in preparing bids and quotes, covering technical, operational, and commercial aspects.Manage and drive the project delivery schedule, focusing on key tasks and ensuring all quality control steps are met.Mentor graduates and project engineers, helping them improve their skills.Ensure AEs financial systems reflect actual project progress and costs, highlighting any significant changes early.Understand the project scope and track progress to ensure it meets all milestones (e.g., S.I.T., F.A.T., mobilisation, and product release).Prepare project documentation, manuals, and user requirements by engaging with customers and finalizing purchase orders.Order materials and services on time to meet project needs and raise purchase requisitions.Ensure all project "gates" are followed, with proper controls and deliverables.Lead project kick-off meetings with the design team and participate in design reviews.Provide project progress updates to directors.Organise HAZID and HAZOP meetings as needed.Other Activities:Monitor project cash flow to ensure invoices match project expenses and forecasts.Manage various contracts, identifying and reducing commercial and technical risks.Review supplier relationships to ensure accounts and timeframes are correct, addressing any delays.Ensure honest and timely reporting of technical, operational, contractual, and financial issues to management.Provide technical guidance to Sales and Operations when necessary.Approve Purchase Orders and Invoices according to the project budget.Review and approve technical documents, reports, and drawings for your project.Assist with client visits and technical presentations as required.A successful Senior Project Engineer should have a strong background in offshore environments, project forecasting, and team leadership. Key qualifications include a City & Guilds or NVQ in a relevant engineering field, with a degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural Engineering. Experience of at least 5 years in a similar role, including client-facing interactions and financial forecasting, is essential.A proven track record of leading teams, particularly in offshore settings, and experience with offshore structures and subsea equipment will set candidates apart. Strong IT skills, excellent communication, and problem-solving abilities are crucial, with a focus on simplifying complex information for diverse teams. Additional qualifications such as project management certifications (e.g., APM, Prince 2, or Six Sigma) and offshore survival training are desirable.This is a full-time, permanent position, Monday to Thursday - 08.30 to 17.30hrs.
