Job Description Are you a passionate, proactive and experienced planner looking to make a real difference in local communities? This exciting new role has been created to assist the Chief Planning Officer in delivering placemaking outcomes in West Dunbartonshire. Leading a multidisciplinary team including development plan policy, placemaking and project officers, you will be the key driver of the preparation of the Councils next Local Development Plan. Requirements What We’re Looking For: We're seeking an excellent communicator who has a passion for planning and commitment to delivering for the communities of West Dunbartonshire. You’ll need: Extensive experience within a planning background, ideally within a Development Planning setting. A relevant planning degree or equivalent. Full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute. It would be desirable for candidates to have a broad experience of all aspects of planning Responsibilities What You’ll Do: Provide strategic management leadership and co-ordination of development planning and place functions, implementing locally national planning priorities. Work closely with developers, communities and key stakeholders to deliver the next Local Development Plan and support communities in the preparation of Local Place Plans. Deputise for the Chief Planning Officer when required. Manage the work of the Antonine Wall Project Officer to support the delivery of workstreams on behalf of 5 councils and Historic Environment Scotland. Manage the work of the Council's Placemaking Co-ordinator to support the delivery of a high quality built environment within West Dunbartonshire.
