Structural Engineer Certain Advantage is hiring for a Structural Engineer to join a major nuclear project based in Somerset. The Role This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Structural Engineer to support the review and acceptance of engineering queries related to Embedded Steelwork-including Pools, Tanks, Liners, and Sumps. Reporting to the PTLS Discipline Lead within the Review & Acceptance Branch of the Joint Design Office (JDO), you'll play a critical role in ensuring compliance with nuclear safety requirements and technical quality standards. As the project progresses, the successful candidate is expected to transition into Mechanical and Electrical teams during the fit-out phase, following completion of the civil works. Key responsibilities include: Reviewing and responding to General Queries, Non-Conformances, Change Requests, and Exemption Requests from contractors during both the manufacturing and installation phases. Conducting surveillance of manufacturing documentation to ensure compliance. Supporting the resolution and closure of technical Open Points. Collaborating with Responsible Designers, site-based Experts, and stakeholders to maintain nuclear safety standards. Assessing technical risks and contributing to mitigation strategies. Providing technical oversight across multi-disciplinary teams and escalating relevant issues when necessary. The Individual We're looking for candidates who can demonstrate: Experience applying multi-disciplinary technical knowledge in the nuclear industry. Knowledge of manufacturing, construction, and installation practices. Experience in welding engineering is highly desirable. The ability to influence stakeholders across varied environments, particularly on-site. Strong independence, proactivity, and sound judgment in escalating technical concerns.
