A well-established Construction company based in Lancashire is currently looking to appoint a Design Manager to join their business. The company delivers new build projects across a wide range of sectors including Commercial, Retail, Education, Industrial, and Residential.
The role will be a mixture of office and site-based, and you will be responsible for the management of design-related issues at both preconstruction and the Construction Stages of all company projects.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure Building Regulations are met within the design process
2. Ensure designs are compliant with Planning Conditions placed on the project
3. Preparing design status reports
4. Ensure the internal drawing management process is met and meets the requirements of RIBA
5. Collate and organise technical building information from the Architect, Structural/Civil Engineer, and M&E designers
6. Monitor designs for Health and Safety and contribute to risk assessments
7. Coordinating detailed design information
8. Preparing specifications for construction work
9. Coordinating plans and documents for statutory approvals
10. Coordinating the Design Team in the preparation of conceptual drawings
11. Coordinating applications for approval by regulatory bodies
12. Chair Design Team meetings with Architects, Structural Engineers, and Consultants
13. Complete review of all project drawings and specifications, issuing technical queries where required and ensuring these are fully resolved by the design team including subcontractors with design responsibility
14. Researching new design processes, building legislation, and technology
15. Ensure timely, presentable, consistent, and high level of quality design information both internally and externally
16. Working within the Design Team for each assigned project including key scope, schedule, and cost
17. Ensure that the Design Team coordinates and follows-up with the Client prior to and during project execution
Requirements
1. Previous experience within the Construction industry as a Design Manager for a Main contractor
2. Good working knowledge of building standards such as RIBA, BREEAM, etc.
3. Strong IT Skills
4. Ability to build good relationships with external and internal stakeholders
5. Excellent communication skills
