Job Title: Assistant Chief Engineer - Site Authority

Salary: Circa £80,000 depending on experience
What you'll be doing:
* Lead a team of Engineers who collectively have responsibility for facilities, assets and infrastructure within a defined zonal area. Responsible for functional management leadership and influence over significant engineering resources of different engineering disciplines.
* Making complex engineering decisions relating to facilities, fully understanding the relationship between different systems and features of the facility, making judgements of significant impact on facility performance and compliance.
* Leading an engineering sub function delivering work that is core and key to the reputation and performance of facilities and the business.
* Ensure assets, facilities and infrastructure are safe, legal, compliant and meet the performance demands of the business.
* Responsible for assessing and approving asset modifications to maintain configuration control.
* Identify asset improvements across projects, maintenance and operations and raise risks/investment requests to improve.
* Responsible for ensuring maintenance is suitable to support projected asset usage.
* Monitoring asset operational performance and recommending areas of improvement.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
* Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience that would support a Chartered membership of professional body.
* Previous experience of leading diverse engineering teams in a regulated environment.
* Broad engineering background with good understanding of key legal obligations for managing large manufacturing facilities & assets.
Desirable:
* Experience in asset management/strategy and delivery.
* Demonstrable experience of developing asset strategies to drive improved asset performance.
* Working in highly regulated industries such as Oil & Gas/Rail/Aerospace/Nuclear.

The External Engineering Authority Team:
As the Assistant Chief Engineer, you will support the Deputy Chief Engineer in leading a multi-disciplined engineering team to deliver independent engineering assurance across all BAES sites. You will ensure the assets within the area of responsibility are safe, legal and compliant as well as developing the strategies to ensure that the assets are managed effectively to meet current and future operational demands. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
