Main purpose of job: To deliver a high performing Campus Operations function that, by focusing on the needs of the end user, delivers the campus strategy and implementation plan in relation to the use of space, equipment and resources. By implementing best practice methods deliver an improved facilities service to the end user, be that Hutton Colleagues or campus partners (tenants) by maximising the use of available resources along with the continual management of robust internal processes. To lead and coordinate the effective use of space across all Hutton sites, acting as the focal point between end users, be they Hutton colleagues, Campus partners (tenants), partner organisations or public, and the key delivery partners namely site operations, Capital Projects, HSQE, ITS and Sustainability. Main duties of postholder: Space management Ensure a co-ordinated approach in the use of the building resources across the Hutton estate Lead office/lab improvements, renovations, or refurbishments Work in partnership with relevant Heads of Department to allocate office and laboratory space across buildings according to needs Develop, implement and monitor good management practices in respect of the design, construction and delivery of assigned capital projects including relevant procurement and health & safety processes and procedures Health and Safety Coordination In partnership with the Site Operations and HSQE teams ensure that all occupied space and common areas are compliant with current legislation and that any remedial work is undertaken within agreed timescales Budget management Lead the budgeting process for this function including being responsible for ensuring that financial resources are sourced and used to achieve high quality, effective and efficient services while delivering value for money. Review utilities consumption and strive to minimise costs. In partnership with the Campus Management team and Sustainability Coordinator implement energy efficiency and cost-saving measures across the built environment Campus Partner (Tenant) co-ordination Helping new businesses, organisations or partners relocate onto the Hutton estate and to make decisions about leasing – both financial and contractual terms, draft reports and making written recommendations on all matters relating to Campus Partners Vehicle Management Ensure that the Institute vehicle fleet is appropriate for the users needs and that the fleet is fully utilised. People Management Lead and manage the Site Operations, Capital Projects, IT and HSQE teams to ensure the delivery of a high quality, customer focused function Sustainability Ensure that all activities undertaken and the delivery of capital projects support and deliver the aims and objectives of the Hutton Group Climate Action Plan Further comments: The role will take a lead in change projects, identifying best practice, and working with others to positively influence and modernise how we develop and utilise our built environment. PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential Desirable Attainments: Education / qualifications Minimum bachelor's degree (or equivalent level qualification) in business management, campus management, facilities management, or a related field; Membership of the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) Extensive experience in building services and engineering, office management, or administration is preferred Experience: Able to demonstrate extensive post qualification experience of construction technology, design & project management of a diverse range of construction projects, including new buildings, refurbishments, and complex projects incorporating building services modifications and installations. Experience of working in both the public and private sector. Thorough knowledge and experience of project management and project control techniques, including financial analysis, project planning and appraisal, financing and risk management Sound understanding of all legislative and compliance requirements for the delivery building projects and/or Construction Design & Management Regulations. Experience of delivering complex projects within occupied buildings and maintaining functionality by managing and minimising disruption to users. Have a sound understanding and experience of delivering environmental sustainability, beyond compliance, in building design and the construction process. Experience of all aspects of managing a portfolio of tenants - drafting initial Heads of Terms, Leases and contractual negotiations Experience of managing a multiskilled team across a multisite organisation to deliver the requirements of a complex stakeholder portfolio.
