About the Role
Working within a team of joining engineers at our new Automotive Bodyshop in Solihull, you will support SE and launch activities within the team.
Your Responsibilities
1. Manage Vendors and coupon test facility.
2. Resolve Process designer issues for joining technologies to protect the customer.
3. Advise PD of any issues and coordinate with CAE for joint strength data.
4. Optimize process designer for all relevant joining technologies (adhesive, rivet, EJOT/EJOWELD/RSW, and Fusion joining process) allocations.
5. Ensure documentation is available and updated with the latest parameters and feedback from technology testing and reviews. Raise, track, and liaise with PD regarding deviations.
6. Drive Vendors to achieve weld expulsion, adhesive bead optimization, and adhesive bead expulsion levels that do not contaminate tooling and joining equipment.
7. Support JRM activities and complete administrative tasks.
8. Process Designer core skills training will be provided by JLR if required.
Requirements
What you’ll need
* Ability to transfer your engineering/analytical knowledge into the automotive environment, applying best practices.
* Proficiency with Excel, including Pivot tables, and the ability to interrogate data effectively.
* Ideally, experience advising on best practices for Resistance Spot Welding with Bosch adaptive welding, Self-Pierce Riveting with Tucker guns, and Adhesive SCA for structural, gap, and Hem fill applications. Training will be provided if needed.
