Responsibilities:
* Drive mechanical development efforts from concept generation through to final build and support phases.
* Apply engineering principles and manufacturing best practices to create reliable, cost-effective solutions.
* Take ownership of mechanical design packages and coordinate contributions across technical disciplines.
* Support compliance and verification activities, ensuring designs meet environmental and operational criteria.
* Work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to refine and deliver mature, production-ready designs.
* Contribute to the evolution of engineering processes, tools, and design standards across the team.
* Mentor and support colleagues, fostering collaboration and sharing of best practices within the department.
Skills & Experience:
* Technical degree/equivalent qualification or experience.
* Proven ability to lead technical efforts within complex engineering programs.
* Understanding of product lifecycle stages and the challenges of developing systems for demanding environments.
* Experience with 3D CAD and simulation tools.
* Strong communication skills, capable of navigating cross-functional and cross-cultural environments.
* Background in supplier coordination and working with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities with a professional approach.
