About the Role
We are recruiting to a Power BI analyst role within the Insights and Intelligence Service at Trafford Council. The work of our data analysis is vital to helping us improve services for the lives of residents living in Trafford.
The Insights and Intelligence Team is on an exciting journey to transform the Councils data, we are developing a Microsoft Azure Data Lake and migrating to Power BI reporting across the business. We are seeking individuals who are keen to develop skills and knowledge to make a difference for the people of Trafford.
About you
Key duties for this role include:
* Using Power BI to create coherent, accurate and useful reports and dashboards, to provide meaningful business insights.
* Transforming data into a format that is easy for end-users to understand to empower informed decision-making.
* Leading the Council’s Centre of Excellence for Power BI - managing and supporting the implementation and use of Power BI across the organisation.
You will have:
* Experience of analysing and interpreting large, complex data sets
* Experience of pulling together data sources from a variety of different systems and engaging with a variety of stakeholders to gain domain understanding
* Ability to handle complex data transformation processes to ensure the data is in the right shape for reporting
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present analysis clearly, through visualisations, written reports, or oral presentations in a way that is understandable to both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Substantial Power BI experience, SQL and DAX skills and also experience with programming languages such as R or Python.
* Experience of working as part of a team and liaising with internal departments and external bodies
* A passion for data and aptitude in supporting processes to improve data quality.
* Ability to quickly analyse problems and find appropriate and timely solutions
* Ability to work as a team and on own initiative, determine priorities and meet important deadlines over the short, medium and long term.
