Community Development and Engagement Officer

Fixed Term 18 month contract
Help build trust, enable collaborative working and facilitate community development across East Hampshire.
The Community Team at East Hampshire provide vital community development support to our communities. We work closely with local
groups, community organisations, voluntary services and statutory agencies to help develop community-led solutions to bring about
positive outcomes.
As a Community Development and Engagement Officer you will take an asset-based community development approach to identify the
strengths and opportunities within communities and build upon these to build sustainable and resilient communities. You will
facilitate community involvement in decision making, promote and achieve community cohesion and integration and encourage the
local community and organisations to take an active role in community life.
As a key member of our team you will help to build the capacity of the local voluntary, community and social enterprise sector,
ensuring our communities are well placed to support themselves and the most vulnerable in their communities. You support the team
in an ambitious programme of asset transfer to enable communities to achieve their vision and objectives.
The role will involve effective management, delivery and monitoring of a range of community focused projects and programmes across
the district that will enhance the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the community, as well as helping to embed the
asset based community development approach across the organisation.
We are looking for a highly skilled candidate who is experienced in working with individuals, community groups and statutory
authorities, with excellent written and verbal communication skills enabling you to build effective collaborative working
partnerships and represent the council with external stakeholders.
You will have a good understanding of the principles of Community Development and be experienced in project planning and
management to ensure effective project scoping and resourcing, with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment moving between
tasks to support changing priorities.

The post holder will be able to work to a hybrid model, working between our offices at Monterey House in Petersfield and from
home, we encourage the team to attend the office weekly to ensure opportunities for shared learning and to build team
relationships.
