Job Purpose As the Chief Operating Officer (“COO”) you are responsible for the performance and operations of the company’s day-to-day operations, in accordance with its strategy and annual operating plan. You will report to the CEO. You are responsible for overseeing the corporate functions necessary to run smooth operations as well as ensuring the delegation for the day-to-day running of the functions is to appropriately qualified staff. The COO leads the following functions and/or business units: Overseeing Operations (note: Risk, Governance, Compliance excluded) Corporate Finance & Tax Business Infrastructure, including IT Functional responsibility for the CFOs Key Job Responsibilities Operational Management Oversee daily operations of the company and the work of executives: Finance & Tax, Operations, and IT teams Drive operational effectiveness and be the Management Committee member responsible for the implementation of initiatives to improve performance and efficiency Drive the improvement and refinement of key performance indicators that capture not only financial but operational performance indicators Facilitate effective communication with the respective stakeholders to remove obstacles, improve responsiveness and facilitate prompt, efficient decision-making Responsible for ensuring that the systems and procedures are appropriate so that company operations comply with all legal and regulatory requirements; coordinate the interface with the Heads of Compliance, Secretariat and Risk ensuring that no material gaps exist or could emerge Oversee the team who are responsible for the effective and efficient use of technology to support the company’s operation’s needs, while maintaining a strong cyber-security profile. Ensure that the day-to-day responsibilities are delegated to those who are adequately qualified and suitably expert. Drive key projects as they arise i.e. set up of new offices Strategy As part of the senior team the COO will contribute to the evolution of the vision and the strategy. The COO will translate the strategy into actionable goals and implement new business processes as required to achieve these goals. The COO will keep abreast of latest industry developments to ensure that the company maintains its competitive position and will be involved in corporate development projects as may be requested from time to time. Financial Management Responsibility for the final production and integrity of the firm’s financial information The COO is responsible for the finance function including all financial, prudential regulatory, management, risk management and statutory reporting, in the required timeframes and regulations. The COO will ensure that the accounting and control framework is robust and appropriate with adequate processes and procedures in place to guide and govern accounting and financial reporting. The COO is responsible for ensuring that the regulatory reporting process is comprehensive and that it gives and accurate impression of the firm's finances. The COO will manage relationship matters relating to capital and liquidity including linked key control processes (SYSC). Lead the annual operating plan preparation to ensure that the company has all the resources necessary to meet its objectives within agreed financial parameters Responsibility for the Company’s treasury management function and their activities within the Company’s stated risk appetite and risk management framework. People and Change Management Line management responsibility for Finance & Tax, Operations, and IT Functional management responsibility for CFOs Driving organisational change initiatives to improve operational efficiency or to adapt to market changes or new directions Skills and Qualifications We envisage that the successful candidate has a track record over 10 years of leadership and operational expertise in infrastructure investment management, private equity, or financial services sectors and bring a methodical approach to processes and strategic planning. You will bring a comprehensive grasp of key business functions including Finance & Tax, Risk & Governance, and IT systems from a role where you have been spearheading change, demonstrated decision making excellence and successfully resolving complex issues effectively. You will possess commercial acumen, a history of leveraging innovative strategies for operational efficiency and cost management. An engaging communication style which resonates with senior management and executives is key Your skillset will include advanced project management; you are capable of multitasking with precision under stringent deadlines. Exceptional at fostering a team performance culture, skilled in delegation to proficient team members; and possess outstanding communication skills. An accounting qualification and/ or previous experience in a finance role is desirable.
