Department: Children's ServicesLocation: Blackburn & DarwinWorking Hours: 5 days per week, 60% office and 40% working from homeRequirements: Full UK driving licence and own vehicle
Purpose of the Job:
* Deliver outstanding services to care leavers with energy and enthusiasm.
* Provide support and interventions to young people aged 16-25, both in and leaving care.
* Develop positive relationships and offer practical and emotional support based on assessments and pathway plans.
Main Areas of Responsibility:
* Build relationships and communicate effectively to help young people reach their full potential.
* Support independent living, accommodation options, education, training, employment, health, and social networks.
* Participate in service development and ensure compliance with legislation and guidance.
* Collaborate with other agencies to engage young people in opportunities and support.
* Promote good practice models and adhere to the leaving care offer.
* Ensure high standards of case recording and administrative records.
* Promote and develop the Borough’s priorities and participate in training.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
* NVQ level 4 in child care/social care or equivalent qualification.
* Understanding of leaving care and children legislation, child protection, and safeguarding.
* Experience working with young people up to 25 years, including those vulnerable to exploitation.
* Ability to communicate effectively, support resilience, work flexibly, and maintain confidentiality.
* Commitment to equal opportunities, user involvement, and continuous professional development.
Other Requirements:
* Legally entitled to work in the UK.
* Willingness to work outside normal office hours.
* Enhanced DBS check required.
