We are looking for an assistant manager to join our experienced, conscientious and caring team. The role requires previous experience in front of house hospitality and managing staff. You will be representing the values of the Exploding Bakery, so will need to have a passion for quality, local and sustainable food and a knowledge of specialty coffee. You will need to have a high standard of barista training and understanding of exceptional customer service.
Main duties to include but not limited to:
* Ordering supplies and stock for the café
* Quality control (coffee and food)
* Delegating work duties
* Overseeing deep cleaning and general everyday cleaning on close down
* Maintaining 5 star rating for food hygiene in compliance to SFBB
* Dealing with customer complaints or referring to upper management
* Formal and informal communication amongst the team on a daily basis
* Maintaining a happy team
Other day to day duties as a team member include:
* Mastering and maintaining the coffee machine
* Washing up
* Cleaning the toilet and toilet area
* Clearing and wiping tables as soon as customers leave
* Serving customers on the till
* Making hot drinks
* Deep cleaning
* Using Safer Food Better Business pack (SFBB)
* Preparing and displaying cake and savoury food items
* Cooking off food items and prepping ingredients
* Checking and referring stock levels to manager
* Re-stocking disposables (napkins, takeaway cups etc)
* Greeting customers as they come through the door and saying goodbye
* Engaging with customers in a friendly manner and being approachable
* Seeking customer feedback
* Laundry
* Putting away deliveries as soon as they arrive
* Taking out bins after each shift
* Sweeping the outside area after closing down
* Sweeping and mopping the floor area in the café and kitchen
* Maintaining a clean & minimal aesthetic, keeping water bottles, lunches, personal items & general clutter out of sight
* Being aware of health and safety standards
* Lover of food and wine and is eager to learn more about our products
* Ability to deliver a personable and memorable experience to each visitor
* Good understanding of Food Safety and H&S procedures
* A positive can-do attitude with a good work ethic who can adapt to the needs of the business
* Good food preparation skills
* Retail experience in a deli/quality food operation is essential
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £12.70 per hour
