GSKs Research & Development Engineering Services (RDES) provides Facilities Management, Engineering and Capital Projects delivery for Technical R&D sites within GSC’s Engineering and EHS organization. We have created a new 12 Month Fixed Term Contract role to work with the Scientists based at our Stevenage site to boost our research productivity and enable discovery of life changing treatment. The role will join a team who will deliver the “Lab Experience Programme”. The individual will have a sound engineering / operations background, have emotional intelligence, be highly collaborative and be able to design simple processes that will drive improvement. Lab Experience Program Background The Lab Experience program is a priority initiative of RDLT aligned to our 2024 culture objective. It’s purpose is to improve and enhance the lab experience for our staff by: Identifying and removing blockers that prevent or delay progress for our lab staff Providing relevant, timely tools and services Connecting our leaders, teams, and partners to collaborate on solutions, clarify and align expectations and enhance communications Some key in-flight workstreams as part of the Lab Experience Program are: Listening channel : a user-friendly technology solution to enable scientists to identify blockers in the lab so they can be raised, tracked and addressed in a timely manner Leader-led gembas : bringing together leaders and scientists in the lab to identify problems and improve the lab experience at GSK HBSM simplification : streamlining human sample management (collecting, storing, and disposal) by supporting mindful reduction of collection size, central sample management & implement standardized and simplified ways of working. Safety simplification : Simplified, broadly applicable centralized risk assessments, ensuring the expectations for safety are risk-based and that CAPAs are addressed in a prioritized and resource-considered approach. Lab experience of the future : Developing a vision for the lab experience of the future by bringing outside perspectives in. Key Responsibilities: Identify opportunities to improve RDES processes to support science Collect and analyse data to provide valuable insights to improve delivery Develop a triaging process to determine priority for the concerns coming through the Listening Channel and drive resolution Create a process that will allow RDES to track status/next steps/resolution of each request Build and lead small teams to analyse and address complicated problems and build business cases and consensus for change Work with the RDES service partners to complete and update requests via the listening channel Work closely with the customer to ensure the issues identified via the listening channel are resolved Provide regular updates to senior stakeholders on the success of initiatives Develop a standard way of working to address Listening Channel requests Why you? Basic Qualifications & Skills : Holds degree in Business, Science or Engineering Experience of health sciences, Pharma R&D, manufacturing or industrial operations management Experience with facility operations and/or engineering. Experience of project and programme management skills Strong communication skills Outstanding leadership abilities to motivate and influence cross functional teams.
