Job Description General Assistant Dumfries Academy £20,733.54 - £20,829.56 This is an opportunity to work in the busy and rewarding role of General Assistant at Dumfries Academy - 36 hours per week, 39 weeks of the year. (2 part time posts may be considered) The General Assistant at Dumfries Academy plays a vital role in the smooth and efficient running of the school. We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and resourceful individual to fulfil this challenging and exciting role. You should be adaptable, have experience of working in a busy environment and be a team player. You will undertake a range of clerical duties and provide assistance in Home Economics and other departments to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the school. You will also provide general auxiliary support and be required to support the health and wellbeing of pupils. You must have experience of working in a busy office, an aptitude for PC work and the ability to build positive relationships with staff and young people. This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council. Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
